Keeping your new home in great shape doesn’t have to be a daunting task—by incorporating a few easy routines into your schedule, you can ensure your space stays comfortable, safe, and beautiful for longer. Here are some suggestions from our owner, Brandon:
Your heating and air system will function most efficiently with good air flow. Changing your air filter monthly will allow the system to run properly. Changing the air filter also gives you the cleanest air, as your homes is continually taking dirt out of your home. With this important monthly change your air will be cleaner, and your system will run smoother, an excellent Home Maintenance Tip.

Your new home will be equipped with a disposal in the kitchen drain. This is there so IF small pieces of food go in the drain you can get them down. The disposal will last a very long time if you make sure that large chunks of food are scraped in the garbage before rinsing dishes. Many people mistakenly think the garbage disposal is for any and all food to go down, but that it not the case. Most food should go in the garbage. The disposal isn't meant for chopping up food. Not only does it ruin the disposal, but it also leaves that food in your drain and begins to create bad odors.

Space savers, or over the range microwave ovens, have a fan built into them. Most of these are not vented to the outside. To make sure the fan cleans the air they’re equipped with charcoal filters. These filters should be checked and possibly changed regularly. Doing this will help the fan function efficiently.

Installing a water softener helps keep your water heater and other plumbing fixtures running smoothly. When hard water accumulates on plumbing fixtures it creates buildup. We include hookup for a water softener in every house. Having a water softener also helps with cleaning. You won't have the buildup and hard water that needs scrubbing. Make sure you keep the softener filled with the recommended salt, as its key to keeping your water soft.

Keeping your dryer vent cleaned out is another important maintenance that should be added to your monthly routine. This practice keeps your dryer operating at its best performance. Look at it like it's helping it to breath. It also protects your dryer. If too much lint accumulates in the vent, it can become a fire hazard. Vacuum out the vents in the dryer as well as the one going to the outside.

Upkeep on your new home prevents costly repairs and preserves your property's value. Use these tips to make maintenance manageable and ensure a comfortable and inviting space for years to come. More tips and advice from Brandon coming soon!
